Re: myspace
Tue, January 17, 2006 - 6:08 PMI hate to say it, because I've been such a Tribe advocate for so long, but it appears as though Myspace has taken the lead.
There's alot more people from all walks of life on there, whereas tribe, not that this is such a bad thing, is mostly made up of only burners.
Besides, Myspace offers more control of your personal pages and music files as well.
So yeah, Myspace is definitely the flavor of the month... for now.
Who knows, maybe Friendster will come back swinging? I mean, this whole social blog site phenomenon is ONLY what, three years old?
Either way, just think of it as 'different friends hang out at different bars'
I say keep em both. -

Re: myspace
Tue, January 17, 2006 - 7:36 PMits true, tribe is my burner/moontribe connect, and myspace is my other wordly friends. while i retreat from the compartmentalization this implies, it has brought me back in touch with friends, ultimately expanding my virtual reality rather than boxing it in ...i am so distracted right now i should be writing a class curriculum for a massage school!!! ps. i'm coming to portland the 6th-?in march yay!

be advised
Thu, January 19, 2006 - 10:07 PMI heard Tom the adocate of myspace on a radio interview. He repeated several times that he uses all images and info for his own personal reasons and or other reasons. He mentioned that he loved the pictures of half naded housewives and freely gives them out. He also said that he always knows where to find the best drugs. He went on and on about this in a sort of mad rant. He also implied that he does not have a privacy policy that he has to follow. Now mind you, I am on my space, but I only post info and pictures that I want roaming around the internet. -

Re: be advised
Fri, January 20, 2006 - 7:36 AMI heard about that "interview", and I have to say I'll believe it when I see the transcript posted on the front page of myspace.com
A co-worker repeated some of these things you've mentioned in addition to the alleged arrogant boasts that he has full copyrights to all the bands music on there and how he's just released a CD and none of the bands are getting a red cent, etc....
It just seems waay too charged and/or embellished to be at all believable.
I can't imagine a CEO being so forthright and candid with his devious attitudes on something so paltry as a drive-time no-name radio interview.
Besides, there are signed bands on there. Do you think that EMI-Sony-Mercury-BMI-ASCAP-Warner, etc. are gonna give up THEIR rights for a little free webspace, well.,..
The interview was nothing more than a politically charged, ratings prank. -
